Testing and development system

Testing of detectors will be carried out primarily at Surrey and Paisley as indicated above. The position sensitive detectors will require the ability to take multiparameter data. Hence, as described above, a small test system will be assembled for use at Surrey. As also indicated above, this system can be used for the development of software for on-line experiments and will provide spares during actual experiments. In addition, it could be adapted to provide the complete acquisition system for a small experiment run with TIARA at a different laboratory. The testing of the detectors will require small test vacuum rigs and radioactive sources. Suitable vacuum rigs already exist in each collaborating institution in TIARA.
