The DeMON neutron array

The DeMON array is jointly owned by laboratories in France and Belgium and, in collaboration, we have performed several major experiments using it to detect fast neutrons from reactions induced by radioactive beams at GANIL. The array consists of approximately 100 liquid scintillation counters that can be mounted several metres from the target in various different geometries. It is feasible to imagine that the TIARA array could be deployed together with DeMON. This presents no serious problems because the present acquisition system for DeMON (and also its planned upgrade) are compatible with the new standard GANIL data acquisition system. TIARA is being designed to operate using both the Exogam and the GANIL data acquisition systems and hence is fully compatible.
